Stern: 4 teams will go camping in Europe

Commissioner David Stern’s annual ‘’state of the NBA'’ news conference Saturday lacked any big news, but there were a few interesting items of note.

Stern announced that four teams will conduct training camps and play some exhibition games in Europe in October. The Los Angeles Clippers will train and play in Moscow; the Philadelphia 76ers will train and play in Barcelona, Spain; the San Antonio Spurs will camp in Lyon, France, and play in Paris; and the Phoenix Suns will hold camp in Treviso, Italy, and play in Rome.

But when asked if the All-Star Game possibly could be held in Europe in the near future, Stern said that’s unlikely because the All-Star break would have to be extended.

Although next year’s All-Star Game will be held in Las Vegas, Stern said it doesn’t mean that city will get a franchise soon.

Can’t blame gas woes on Europe firms-analysts

Can't blame gas woes on Europe firms-analysts LONDON (Reuters) - Britain is wrong to blame its European neighbours for last week's record prices and the real fault lies with its reliance on market forces to prompt firms to invest in new import projects, analysts said on Monday. UK gas became the world's most expensive fuel last week and energy regulator Ofgem has asked the European Commission to establish whether European utilities contributed to the price spike and abused the market by holding back gas from the UK.
