EUROPE STILL IN CITY’S SIGHTS
EUROPE STILL IN CITY’S SIGHTS
Stuart Pearce is refusing to give up on Manchester City’s European dream.
The Blues have picked up just one win from their last five games, a run which has seen them tumble to eighth in the table and in danger of slipping out of the fight for a UEFA Cup slot.
Pearce was bitterly disappointed with his team’s efforts in the weekend defeat at West Brom, further emphasising the need to strengthen the Blues squad when the transfer window opens next month.
But the City chief knows Saturday’s televised encounter with Birmingham offers an obvious opportunity to gain some winning momentum ahead of an arduous festive schedule which includes fixtures with Chelsea, Tottenham and Wigan, all currently above Pearce’s side in the Premiership.
And despite the obvious difficulty in that schedule, Pearce is not ready to throw in the European towel just yet.
